His head unit doesn't have an auxiliary jack

Seems kind of pointless to put it in the back

To use your rock CDs more conveniently (the CHEAPEST way):

Download the (freebie) iTunes program from Apple.com to your Windows computer. THEN FIRST STEP: run iTunes and click on Edit > Preferences > General > Import_Settings to change your "Import_Using" to be "MP3 Encoder". (that's a once-only thing, remembered forever)

Now you can convert all your favorite music CDs into MP3 format. It's easy, cuz when you insert an ordinary CD into your computer, iTunes automatically asks you whether you IMPORT its songs. Click YES. That's how you create handy MP3 versions of your fav songs. Automatically. Yes, digitized copies. As MP3 files.

In iTunes, with MP3's, you can make a new "mix tape" of your fav songs. iTunes asks which kind of CD you want. Best is to make a MP3 style of CD, not an ordinary audio CD. That MP3 style of CD holds over 200 songs on 1 CD (ie, 10 hours). Whereas an ordinary audio CD holds only 20 songs (1 hour).

Also, your Android phone can hold LOTS of MP3 songs, same as an ipod can. To load up, plug your Android into your computer (via USB), and use Windows to (drag & drop a) copy of your MP3 songs into the phone's internal "/Music" folder. That's it. Simple. Now your phone contains your music MP3 files, too. The /Music folder is actually inside your phone's CD memory card.

Then go plug your Android phone into your truck's AUX input. Tell your phone to play its music, and enjoy.
I downloaded a FLV to mp4 converter and downloaded playlists off YouTube converted them and and saved them to a 8 gb flashstick and they play great through my radio in the truck. I have a 60 gb flashstick on the way, that will give me plenty of classic rock music, without talk talk talk on regular FM radio. Thanks all that helped me.Bob C.

Well Bob, not sure what you're doing for mobile interwebz tunes now but I've got some food for thought for you.

Times change and things change fast, and competition in the cell phone industry is fierce. There are not a whole lot of new customers out there, so the game is to recruit customers from another carrier by offering a better deal, and in particular the way the game seems to be played lately is to offer more data, etc for less $ than a competitor. In fact, Verizons current plans have rollover data and silly cheap phone service to Canada.

So my point to you (and anyone else that's slacking) is this, you started this thread quite some time ago looking for a deal with data to run Pandora. Check your carrier (and keep an eye on them from time-to-time) and others and see if you can get more for the same $ or less. And while you're at it, ask them about discounts. For example, me gets a 25% employer discount at Verizon. Also, check out local stores like Car toys and Best puy for promos.

Hope this helps, now fire up the Pandora (and others).

Bill I have 4270 mb of data on my Tracfone android ZTE Quartz and haven't thought about it, since I just save playlists from YouTube, on flash drives and play them in my truck all the time.I rarely use data since I use my laptop all the time or my home router for the droid.I might mess with it this Winter, when the snow is up to my ass crack. Thanks for the heads up and reminder.

I can't afford a dime for music, like I said,it would have to be free, but I have never tried it, so I don't know how much data it would eat up on my Android.
I did rat hole some cash over the Summer, fixing and selling lawn mowers.

My issue with siriusxm is the price, usually 50-60 for a year, and the audio quality of it is pretty horrible.

4Gig, right now and today, you can stream quite a bit off of Pandora and other music sites without fear of an overage (I've got 2Gig and haven't had an overage). Another thing, with Pandora you can set the app to consume less data with a small sacrifice in audio quality (that you may not notice). Back when I didn't know how much data Pandora would consume, I ran a 15 minute test; I suggest you do the same, and you'll probably wonder why you waited so long. Also, there is most likely a setting in your phone that will alert you that you are close to using an amount of data that you establish, and another setting to turn off data altogether should you hit a threshold you establish. And on top of that, you *should* be able to get online and review what your carrier says you have used for data, including the suggested test (mine does).

This, when you use your USB media, and how often you get bored with streaming online music and go to USB or whatever else, will naturally prolong the available data.

Good thing you don't live in these parts. With the occasional season accumulation of mid 90 inches of snow, you better have long legs or your bungwhole is gonna be dragging in the stuff.

If he drops the premium service that includes a porn station, the price will go down.

Hate to whine, but after you retire, you pinch every penny, excluding my Ranger of course.I've listened to Pandora on my laptop and it is great 70'-80's rock like I enjoy. My other concern is, I never drive very far, maybe the Post Office or Speedway 2 blocks away for coffee, so don't know if it's worth the effort.Bill thanks for the mighty fine tips!
