Default Modem and router stand or table

So I was wondering where you have your modem and wireless router located in your house that is convenient to access? The reason I am asking is I am going with a new cable, phone and internet company and before I make the change I need to make the equipment easier to access, I have mine now on the floor under the home phone table, it seems I'm always under there trying to see in the dark a bunch of extra long wires in the way, unplugging and replugging the router to reset it. It is a royal pia crawling on the floor in low light trying to see what I'm doing and getting up afterward so I want to fix this now. Thanks,Bob

Modem? Not just router?

Our Fios router sits on an upstairs bedroom desk. We could plug in with a wire (if needed). Mostly, it gives us pretty good wireless coverage, even to backyard. We pretty much never have to reset it manually.

I also ran a cat-6 wire from the upstairs router down to a central ethernet "switch" (not a 2nd router) in the basement that reaches out to every main floor ethernet jack, to plug in. So now the main router location is less relevant for wired access, only important for wireless. The hop via GB switch thru to router is 100% automatic & transparent, and fast. Wired beats wireless.

Fwiw, our neighbor hid their Fios router in basement utility room, which totally limits them to wireless (not wired), and also their wireless coverage sucks in their family room (& deck) at the other end of the house. Mistake.

Well I think I have a plan,I think I can put the modem, wireless router and printer and phone on top of this for easy access and have room for all the extra cables and instruction manuals and other misc.crap.

Here's the mess I have now so nothing sturdy to grab a hold of to get up from the floor.Notice where the router and modem are located beneath the table. LOL!

I saw the words "router" and "table" in the same sentence and I got all excited because I thought this thread was about workworking....hahah.

But in all seriousness, my router is located in the corner of our 2000sqft house and everywhere gets good WiFi

So yours is in a very handy spot too,LOL! Well the reason for my thread was to find a clever place on something in your home to make it easier to access than on the floor somewhere.

Well now that we've installed a new router, I really never need to get access to it because it has been 100% reliable. The old router we kept on our computer desk because it would have to be accessed often (maybe once every two weeks or so)to be reset when our internet crashed.

If you have to gain access to your router often, it is probably time for a new one. We had ours for probably 5-6 years up until 6 months ago and the new one has made a huge improvement in reliability and reception.

Actually I would like to get a few more miles out of my router as it is not that old and hoping when I get the new tv service it will come with a combo modem router but in the mean time still hoping for someone to post a cool table or convenient location for the one I have. Thanks for your input.

Nice set up that he built. I just hard wired my laptop in the garage so issues with signal lose there.
