Re: I have a virus I need help.
Details would help...
Step 1: Run this program http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Report back on what happens when using that tool.

Re: I have a virus I need help.
well my computer's anti-virus works in safe mode, if your doesn't, well you need to have best buy take all your money to remove the virus, then tell you everything is bad on your computer or take it to some computer repair shop.

Re: I have a virus I need help.
Well, every situation's different, but I commonly start by trying to log into 'safe mode with networking', download and install the latest version of Malwarebytes, and use it to scan and clean the system.
If that doesn't work because I can't get on the Internet from the infected system, I'll use another system to download the software and burn it to a CD and take that to the infected PC to do the install. You could use a USB stick I suppose, but make sure it's an empty one and reformat it after the system is clean (and I'm not even sure that's a guarantee.)
If that doesn't work because I can't even install the software on the infected system, I'll pull the hard drive from the infected system and use a USB hard drive adapter to connect it to another system and scan it from there. WARNING: It's important not to allow the host PC to Autorun anything on the infected drive, or to open any files from the infected hard drive when doing this. You could spread the infection to the uninfected host PC. If you're not confident that you can prevent this, don't try it - find someone to help.
Finally, if using one of these methods succeeds scanning the drive, but doesn't find or remove the infection, switching to another antivirus/malware software package might help. I use Symantec Antivirus Corporate, but only because I have a licensed copy - there are plenty of other products out there, but I haven't needed to use them lately. Might try the free version of AVG
Beyond these techniques it gets trickier, with things like editing the registry, repairing windows, and sometimes complete reloads. That's when good backups come in handy. Good luck!

You still haven't said what the problem is so it's hard to say, all virus are not created equally. Malwarebytes is by far one of the best malware removal tools, so hopefully it will fix it.

Re: I have a virus I need help.
After you get the problem fixed, get a full anti-virus suite from McAfee or Symantec, yes the yearly subscription sucks but I haven't had a virus infect my computer yet (knock on wood).
Like stated above, good back ups are key too. Not only for if you do get hit with a virus (because nothing is 100% safe) but also if you have a hardware crash.
Set the anti-virus suite to scan your computer weekly and do a back up of anything you don't want to lose at least monthly.
Porn sites are the biggest sources of viruses with email attatchments or links being the second. Good luck!

Re: I have a virus I need help.
Avast has a free antivirus program that has been great for me it also has a boot scan that has saved my Computer once which runs before windows boots, (Avast.com)
Good luck with the virus.

My lab top won't let me log on to windows vista unless I'm in safe mode. If I try to log in on normal it's just a blank screen. It wont take me to my password screen to sign on windows vista. Thats my problem.

because its not true. theyre as susceptible to viruses as windows machines are, nobody just wanted to bother messing around with shitty programming lol.
daniel if all else fails, just wipe the whole thing and reinstall windows, some viruses trash your system to the point that its required.
