Kaspersky is one of the best, a LOT better than those two.

I'm not sure what you consider a "link" versus a "site" but IMHO, you're a little off. There are basically three ways a viruses are successfully mass-spread now days:

1) Shady software (pirated applications, etc.)
2) Telling a person they need a certain program to continue their action. This is where porn sites have a bad reputation as some will say you need to install a certain media player to play the video, which just happens to contain malware.
3) Software exploits, such as Windows exploits or browser exploits.

Emails attachment viruses are becoming outdated as it's one of the least successful methods, and there are a LOT more profitable things you can do with mass mailing.

All and all, 99.9% of those who have a virus have one because of operator error. Either failing to think before running an application, or failing to stay up to date with updates.

Alright, well that's not necessarily a virus. That sounds more like a corrupted windows system file.

I would try to do a system restore. If that doesn't work, boot from a windows CD and try the repair feature.

Well I guess i'll have to "acquire" a copy from a friend cause I don't have the copy of windows vista.

I'd also run malwarebytes as mentioned, then TDSKiller.

have not ate all my ketchup yet, but after I post this I will. I have a virus too, yeah prolly from porn. I went into safe mode and ran my Malwarebytes and it got me going again. But I can not update malwarebytes so I guess I will go into safe mode again and see if that helps me update. My father in law told me to try and do a system restore but that was no help as it did not restore shit. Now to play ketchup and see if your prob was solved.

Good luck with the virus.
I have avast and still got infected. The problem, er, one of the problems I had was a thing called security tools. I did not install it but it got on my computer thru avast and microsoft securty and malwarebytes whatever and disabled them. Ran malware in safe mode and that kinda took care of it. Avast tells me everyonce in a while that a virus has been detected.
