When I'm not working on or driving my Ranger, I'm a musician of sorts. I work a day job, but music is my passion.

Anyway, I belong to another forum full of musicians and we have a "Recordingfest" where there is an assigned topic and we record a song on that topic. This quarter is "Songs from the year you were born".

I was born in 1975. After a Google search, I came up with a list of songs, and Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" was on that list.

I'll probably do a couple more, since I've got until March to do them, but I've finished Wish You Were Here. Just mixed and uploaded.

Let me know what you think. I'm doing everything you hear. Guitars, drums, bass, piano, vocals. All recorded at my home studio in my attic over the course of about 3 days.

While that would be awesome, I kind of gave up on that dream about 20 years ago. I like having a steady paycheck and paid vacation.

I also like keeping music as a hobby instead of a job. When it gets to be about money, it stops being fun.

The band I'm in is just a cover band. We only play about 5-10 times a year, and we sort of pick and choose the gigs we play. It's nice to be able to turn down a gig at a crappy venue and not have to worry about how you're going to pay the bills because of it.

I basically make enough money playing music to pay for my gas, drinks, food (well, drinks and food are usually on the house), and hopefully have a few bucks left over to put in my personal "gear fund".

Here's a video I put together a few years back. The drummer is a Norwegian guy from the musicians forum I belong to. He recorded the drums and sent me the audio and video tracks over the internet. Then I did the rest and edited it all together.
