+1

I'm usually very picky about anything I buy, and I research and plan carefully. There's no telling what a retailer is going to have for their Black Friday sales (if it's even a sale at all, as opposed to something marked way up before it's marked down - just so it appears to be a good deal) and I usually don't go out and spend money on the spur of the moment.

There may be exceptions, but I've never seen an item on sale on Black Friday that couldn't be found somewhere online for the same price or less.

that is true. but at least when you buy from the store your giving people jobs. id rather spend a couple extra dollars for something knowing that its going to help support the job market.

Well that's a no brainer Jay. Yes retailers mark up the prices and then "reduce" them on black friday. The responsibility lays with the consumer to make sure they aren't getting screwed. For instance, I've been looking for a toolbox since I got my truck and have done a lot of research and have a pretty good idea what one costs per brand. So I know I'm not going to set myself for failure or buy something on the spur of the moment. Plus buying something online, I.E. a toolbox is probably not a good deal when you factor in shipping. Often times the shipping charges for many online purchases mitigates any savings.

Stephen,

Home Depot, sells their toolboxes in Black, as does Delta, but they are typically about $50 more then the silver boxes. I'm pretty sure one box maker makes several of brands boxes, home depot, delta, etc probably just throw a new badge on it and call it their own. Damn, if you were up here in Oregon you could pickup a black single lid Husky toolbox for $200 off of Craigslist. I'm partial the silver myself so I'm not going for the black one I found. I've found a shit load of toolboxes on craigslist, but they are all for full size, with the exception of the black one.

Good point, that is true. I do a lot of online shopping, but I do my share of shopping in brick-and-mortar stores, too. Just not on the day when 99.9% of the population is out doing the exact same thing.

True, it's up to us to do our homework to make sure we're not getting the shaft. Also a good point that something found online often has to be substantially less to offset the cost of shipping.

the one i went to was open all night. they formed separate lines inside for the different items. and once they had as many people in the line as they had in stock for the thing they would stop letting people in the line. so no one wasted their time. it was actually a genius idea. and i didnt have to wait outside.
