Can someone refer me to a place where I can get it a hell of a lot cheaper.
No junk yards maybe a gently used one or someone selling a new one?

I guess whoever would like to help you has to guess what year truck and which engine?
I am guessing you have a 2000 with a 3.0 and I looked up the price at Advance Auto Parts and the price was over $900. Why do you think this part has gone bad? For that kind of money I would expect it to cure cancer too.

Try googling "flex fuel replicator" or "flex fuel emulator". This part plugs into the harness in place of the flex fuel sensor connector and always tells the PCM the same value. It can be used with gasoline up to 15% ethanol (E15) as found in most pumps. Not to be used with any ethanol concentrations higher than 15% (85% or E85 is the most common example). Claimed to be emissions legal when used as stated. About $100~200.
