Minot North Dakota?
Going up north courtesy of USAF, was just wondering if there is anyone up that way that's willing to give some hints on winterizing my ranger. I'm from Kansas so I know some but just wondering if theres any extreme measures to be taken.
Also if you have any info on sites to see for the wife or recreational activates. Plan on skiing or snowboarding if you could help me with locations.
Thanks a bunch!

Re: Minot North Dakota?
I live in bismarck ND. There is not much that you need to winterize but some would be: a block heater, garage, sand bags in the back of your truck, and getting some wiper fluid that doesnt freeze.
----------
It also helps if your truck is 4wd. A 2wd ranger wont do much in the winter.

Yeah I have 4x4 and some new AT tires. Ive heard the shop on base sells block heaters so that will be a first thing to grab when I get up there.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Minot North Dakota?
yep, Bitzy pretty much covered it.
washer fluid, weight in the bed, block heater, etc.
while i dont always plug mine in, and it starts fine, its better for the truck to plug it in.
we see temps of -40 often in january up here in canada, ranger still started fine, but she didnt like it lol.
also, good wiper blades are a nice thing to have. after driving for a while the windshield will get warm, and if it starts snowing heavy it will stick. sucks having shitty wipers when that happens.

I need some new wipers, being in Florida right on the beach every time I go somewhere its do dang foggy I just smear the whole windshield.
The coldest my ranger had seen is -12 one morning going to school, started fine but every now and then it would die when it went into low idle warming up.

Are you running Conventional motor oil or Synthetic? I have an 01 with the 4.0 V6 and it cranks right over with synthetic. I'm based in Williston ND.

I'm in grand forks and I always throw in a bottle of ISO-heet when I fill up. Not sure how much it helps but it gives me a little extra piece of mind.
And good luck in Minot. It's turning into the Wild West out there will all of the oil workers..
Oh and nd doesn't use salt on the roads so they are usually bad in the winter. I find myself going onto the the snowbank a little bit a lot of times to stop myself in time.

X2 on the Minot thing. I was up there a couple months ago and it is now a dirty town. There are more homeless people in Minot than the whole state of Minnesota.

Re: Minot North Dakota?
Make sure your anti-freeze is good to -35 to -40 and use the red bottle of HEET at fill up's.

I live in Williston. It's not bad. Minot is way safer. Just mind your p's and q's and you'll do fine. Just lock your stuff up. You'll do fine bud. Good luck.
