I'm going to find a F350(had one and the faggot sold it right from under me even though I left him 3 or 4 voicemails, and called him every day he was gone) and take pretty much everything from that.

First I'm going to reinforce the frame EVERYWHERE on the ranger. Then I'm going to move the cab back about a foot more than the length of the 7.3(from radiator to firewall length of the 350 pretty much). After I get the cab positioned I'm going to completely pull that off and sand blast the frame. Then I'm going to hit the whole undercarriage with POR-15. After I get it all pretty I'm going to mount up the front and rear axle from the 350 on the ranger(I want a 2wd 350 not 4x4, and a dually would be even better) then I'm going to test fit the drive shaft from the 350, mark out how much cut it needs and bring it to driveline specialty inc. to get it cut to shape(getting a rebuild while it's there too). After I get all the suspension from the 350(wouldn't mind doing a big ass suspension lift while it's torn down but that's a lot more cash...) I'm going to mount the cab.

Now that I have both axles, all the suspension stuff, drive shaft, etc. installed I'm getting it hauled to spicer MN to my buddies garage. He's a diesel mechanic and said he's willing to help me drop the rest of the stuff in like fuel lines, tank, tranny, engine, computer, etc.

After it is wrapped up in the mechanical department of things and is ready to rock and roll I'm going to first start working on the flat bed. I'm going to do a steel tubed flat bed that should be about 4 or 5 feet. Me and billy(cowboybilly9mile) talked a little bit about having to put a little bit of weight on the ass end because of the fact that it's going to be so front heavy, so I was thinking of a nice 300 LB weight box on the very end. After I get the headache rack/flatbed all fabbed up I'm going to strip the cab completely. Bring it to my buddies shop for a nice por-15 hardnose paint job(should have said while the engines out it's getting painted green and yellow). The cab's going to be a gray with parts like calipers, skid plates, and some accent pieces being dark green.

After it has been painted and before it's getting re-assembled I'm going to start on my custom center console. It's going to be a wrap around T shape that will be like a explorer center but goes behind and into both the jump seat spots. In the back there's going to be 1 DD 1510A on the passengers side, a amp rack holding 2 amps on the drivers side. For speakers it's getting all DD mids, and highs.

Before it gets put back together I'm going to dip pretty much my whole interior(dash, bezel, dome light, OHC, etc.) in a dark green and black carbon fiber dip. with yellow and dark green vinyl for the center console, maybe black carpet I don't know yet. Then I'm either using 2 nice leather seats or 2 racing seats(cheap ones that I found were like 65 ea. not the $350 ea. bungee seats.)

Re assemble and it should be good to go... Of course on fenders I'm going to have some custom vinyls made. A GCEXTREME graphics sticker, a Quade's custom, and maybe some other FRF member sponser stickers.

What should I sell my tails for? They're in perfect condition. Was thinking $50+shipping...
I guess I'm not following your idea. You're stuffing a 7.3 under the hood of the Ranger? Is it too long to fit under there so you're moving the cab back on the frame? How does that give you more room under the hood? Unless you're somehow lengthening the fenders, which I'm not sure how that would work or look. Sounds like a very ambitious project!

Help an old guy visualize your project!

Correct. Splitting the fenders and lengthening them to match how far the cab goes back. Then I will also need to lengthen the hood.

Might look funny but I'll have a 7.3 so I won't care

I don't mean to be a wet blanket but I never understood the point of guys doing things like 7.3 and 5.0 swaps into Rangers....I mean you're basically just taking a full size truck chassis and putting the Ranger body over it. So you're getting the poor fuel economy of the bigger trucks without any of the benefits of having more cab room or cargo space. I mean it's cool from a novelty standpoint but if I were going to put money into a 7.3 truck I'd just actually buy a 350 and fix it up.

About a thousand pounds lighter. Means the rangy goes faster than the f350. Shorter wheel base means the rangy is better for off roading. Smaller truck means the rangy can fit in places the 350s can't. Must I go on?

And it's gonna be 2wd? Limited off roading then, compared to 4wd that is. Not trying to shoot down your idea mind you. It's just a lot of time and effort and I hope it works out for you. When does this project start?

No transfer case = 1 foot I can shave off. And doing this swap is already going to be tight on space. It is starting now. I'll probably buy a 350 in the spring when it's warmer out.
