no drywall has an extra layer to it that makes is fire resistant thickness is just thickness

it's rock it ain't Gona burn. 1/2 on walls 5/8 on ceiling and depending on code a fire rated insulated walk dork from garage to house. But you will still get smell up in through the cracks if you don't have the garage door open or the ventilation system on. But I think that it'd be nice having a loft about the garage. Man cave!!

I must correct myself. It will burn depending on the heat temp but it's a good barrier for a amount of time till you can get the fire put out
