Thats good!

And if some wants to bring a grille and we can do burgers and dogs and have chips etc thats good too..just gotta figure out and organize.

And machine..you dont have to take your truck in the mud pits...theres plenty of easy dirt roads and trails...people even haul or drive thier motorhomes thru most of them...
The main dirt road is about 10-15miles and has good scenery and drives around the several lakes, easy fun stuff...hell i think the only time charlie and i used 4wd was playing in the mudpits....we didnt need it for the few trails we went on.

But for the daring ones, there are many "difficult" trails that will test your offroad abilities!!!
Ive seen a few offroad jeep rigs get busted up and have to be towed out.

Also its really mostly atv/dirtbike trails too..so if u have a dirtbike or atv feel welcome to bring it..im hoping to have one of my atvs there..

I don't like to sound like a pussy, by not wanting to do any "serious mudding"
due to the fact my truck has 100% original suspension and all original factory parts, (only brakes replaced) meaning everything is over 103,000 miles old, and I'm afraid something might break.
I just had my belt, idle pulley and tensioner replaced.
in amazing news... my Battery is the original from October 2000.

Thats why i said, u dont have to go crazy, u dont have to go thru the mud pits, u can just drive thru all the dirt road trails.....most of which i have seen cars go thru....

besides, no one wants to do anything stupid and break their truck and be stranded hours away from home in the middle of the woods in a state park....

All the roads and trails are clearly marked, and the main ones are a cakewalk....

The Ranger, for the first time in its life, stranded me today.

I had borrowed a trailer from work to hook up to the Ranger and go buy a new bed from Ikea. Thought I would need the trailer for the mattress but it turns out they roll the spring mattresses up into a bundle; wasted gas on that one.

ANYhow, I went there, got the bed, and headed out. As I'm going along the interstate, the engine flat out dies. Kills right at 65 mph in the middle lane. Lost my power steering and everything, so I had to coax it to the shoulder while coasting and barely steering. I tried cranking it over to no avail. Kept trying and trying, checked my vacuum lines for a leak, checked my plug wires, everything was good. All systems under the hood appeared normal. I was able to crank it over a few times but it'd only run for about 5 seconds before the tachometer would go crazy and the engine would die again. Finally I caved and got a tow.

Now it got real interesting. The guy got my truck up on the flatbed and hooked my trailer up to his truck. We get in the cab and he goes "Did you set the coupler on the hitch ball?" I say, "I think so but let me check." "Nah don't worry, I'll check it." He gets out, comes back and says "Yep we're good to go!"

We cruise for 10 minutes down the interstate and then I hear a BOOM as the trailer lets go from the truck (including the safety chains somehow) and goes flying across 3 lanes of traffic and slams a concrete wall near the shoulder. Luckily no one got hit. He stops, we go and look at it, and he didn't even hook the coupler correctly onto the hitch ball. Meanwhile the trailer has a dent in the front and a blown tire. Not just a blown tire mind you, the rim is twisted into what I can best describe as a pretzel. Luckily I had a spare. We changed the tire and this time I hooked the trailer up myself. We towed it back without incident.... I told the guy I'd pay him half price for the tow since I was going to have to buy a new rim and tire behind his fuckup. He argued it with me but I held firm and paid cash.

(Sidenote, don't use Larry's Towing in Ham Lake....)

Anyhow, after we got it off the truck, I tried firing it up, and it ran like a champ. I drove it around the neighborhood without incident. So it's heat-related and possibly ignition related, which the consensus seems to be the TFI module. Too late and too tired to dick with it right now.

Poor old girl

If anyone needs explorer parts Jim lives 30 miles north of Alexandria and he gave me more than I asked for. 2 lighted visors, ohc, center console, 2 leather seats, and a bunch extra wiring. I'll post his number later.

OK just got home and took a look at everything. $130 got me 2 powered leather seats w/ seat warmers and full electric controls. 2 overheads, the center console with CD storage, a powered rear view mirror, cup holders, mounting stuff, 4 sun visors, and some weird thing on the side of the console that has a cig lighter and phone charger slot.
