Rest in peace, ranger plant

----------

I see a lot of rangers each day on the streets. I often wonder "are those FRF members?"

RIP Ranger plant. I still take pride in driving an American made truck, and especially one made here in Minnesota.

That makes me think about when I was at the junkyard this weekend, one of the Rangers I was tinkering with (a 2nd gen to be exact) had "RIP" written on the rear window in paint. I might qualify myself for the Preposterous Statement Tournament with this but....it made me kind of sad. The guy who owned that truck obviously cared about his rig just like we all do and took the time to write that on it before it made its last voyage.

Over time, we spend so much time in our vehicles and so much time fixing them that we start to get personally attached to them. At least I do. Cars take on personalities, and they are linked inextricably to memories that we create with them. I'll always remember all the trips I've taken in my vehicles and things I've done with them....it'll be a sad day when the Ranger dies.

We all get attached to our vehicles, boats, motorcycle, atvs, etc.

They may just be metal and wires and nuts and bolts, but yes they have personalities and become part of the family....and next to kids and a house, they can be expensive parts of the family.

We spend alot of time and money on our vehicles, they become part of us.

For us that wrench on our vehicles, it gets pretty personal....but even for those that don't wrench on theirs, they still bond to it.

Vehicles take a big chunk out of paychecks, and that money = time.
And once you get it all paid for and that title in your name, theres no better feeling..

I convinced both of my younger brothers to get rangers for their first vehicles. So in the next 6 months my brother will be joining the site with his Ranger.
