Looks like I got stood up on the BII pics >
I mean I'm going to see the thing tomorrow anyhow but I still wanted to get a good look at it before driving to Iowa for crying out loud.

Re: Minnesota
Lol thanks for the concern guys...I am without a laptop at the moment so I was off the grid while in Iowa. I just got home 10 mins ago.
Yes I bought the Eddie Bauer BII. He wanted 1800 but I got him down to 900 after looking at it. It's going to be a project for sure. Interior is decent, upholstery is good. All the power options work including the AC and cruise control. It needs a lot though so I'll be busy. It needs a muffler (it's SO loud that I drove the whole way home from IA with ear plugs in). It also needs something done to the steering....it's got some slop in it and I can feel a rattle in the steering column when you go over bumps. I'm hoping it's just something like a worn tie rod, idler arm, etc. I'll be checking that out this week.
There was oil on the underside of the engine but tbh I have not seen one gen 1/gen 2 ranger/BII that didn't have this to some extent. Probably an oil pan seal or something, so that's on the list. Fuel gauge doesn't work, and the tailgate latch mechanism is totally shot so that's going to be replaced if I can find a replacement assembly. It needs new door mirrors but luckily I have two replacements from that Gen 2 ranger from the junkyard.
The body is a mess...some previous guy tried hacking and packing the doors, quarterpanels and fenders to fix the rust but he just made it worse, imo. It's going to require basically a full re-sand/air blast and then a lot of bondo and paint. I can tell the original color was the same black that my Ranger is, but it's been re-primed to an ugly gray. Tentative plan is to go all black with neon green accents....although I am tempted to restore it to its proper Eddie Bauer scheme of black/tan.
I'll post pics later tonight....right now I gotta take some advil after that drive back
Edit: Forgot to mention, on the drive back it got 23 mpg! I was very pleased with that. I'm curious to see how much better it gets once I go through the whole thing and tune it up.

Re: Minnesota
Needs alot of TLC...but it has some massive potential...
I can picture it all painted, lifted with some 32s or 33s, some offroad lights, and a heavy duty brush/grille guard...

Haha, now you're talking!
I took the front wheels off and did sort of a front-end inspection....this whole thing is making me realize I'm a little out of my depth with this front end because I've always worked on 2wd vehicles (and almost all of them rear wheel drive)....this is my first 4x4. Everything's a bit different so I'm trying hard to familiarize myself with all the parts I've never had to worry about before. Any suggestions anyone has on a good place to learn more about Ranger/Bronco II 4wd drivetrains/steering etc. would be massively appreciated.
But basically it needs one of everything as far as I can tell. Actually most of the steering linkage is okay....could probably use a couple outer tie rod ends. But I want to do upper and lower ball joints, rotors, pads, calipers, and new locking hubs for sure.

Re: Minnesota
Really...really....now really.....did u just ask "Any suggestions anyone has on a good place to learn more about Ranger/Bronco II*4wd*drivetrains/steering etc. would be massively appreciated." ???????? And youre on a Ranger forum!?
Lol...
Really just hit up the drivetrain sections on the forums...here on FRF and over at TRS....and im sure theres Bronco dedicated forums too...
Working on them shouldnt be hard...finding parts might be.

Well, you never know....I'm definitely in the minority with these older rigs and so finding good information about how they're supposed to be set up can be difficult. I'll just have to comb around here and other places. The good news is I am reasonably certain gen 1 and 2 Ranger 4wd systems and Bronco II 4wd systems are very very similar.
