Managed to make a deal on the '04 FX4.

I'm hoping I don't regret it, but at this point I'm just pretty stoked and already planning little things!!!

Yeah I miss the power dome and honeycomb, but i might switch out the badges for the square last gen ones. I'm honestly more bummed out about going from a mustang dome to the horrifically ugly stock dome.

It's a 4.0 with 4x4 and yes - 4 doors and the rear sliding window. I was ambivalent about the bed, but deep down I may be partial to the steppies... I'm happy to have the limited slip rear diff though!

The stock stereo was upgraded to a pioneer receiver, an amp, and a sub. I'm not a fan of the sound equip and it'll go soon. Since its an 04, it's got newfangled stuff like power doors and power windows. I can't wait for that shit to break! (that said, it's nice to be able to roll down the passenger window without having a passenger).

I really want one, it would be nice to have a place just to toss things and not have to worry about tying them down

And you can put stuff back there without it getting snowed or rained on.

I have 2 bedcovers to choose from right now- the one off my old truck (extang blackmax) and the one on the new truck now. I'll play with it a bit this week as it warms up and see which one to hold onto.

The bed has a drop-in bedliner... I'm pretty sure it's factory but I'm still sorta O.o about it. I was a huge fan of a herculined bed. Oh well, that's what the summer is for.

I'm not sure I noticed a big difference between the 4.0 engine and the 3.0 engine. It's not like the difference in driving a 4cyl and a v6 at all. I did notice a little easier time running >70mph (was on 35 getting run down by idiots trying to go 80mph). I'll have more commentary when i fill up the first time and when I pull our 16ft scamp (~2500lbs fully loaded). I never felt under-powered with the 3.0, but I'm also a grandpa driver because of how terrible gas mileage is above ~55mph.

Biggest difference??? The drivers seat isn't moulded to my butt!

I'll try to get better pics tonight or tomorrow- I cleaned the garage out a bunch today and pulled the fancy sound equipment out of the truck.

Charlie- Once I get my ducks in a row (this week, fixing the stove tomorrow) I'll have one of the bed covers and the sub/amp/pioneer receiver to sell.
