Pack of 500 .22 shells is what 20 bucks? That's what it cost for 50 - 17 HMR shells. They are damn good rounds though.

I can tack a dime at 100 yds no problem if im on a bench. We used the 17 when my brother used to live in Sioux Falls SD. His Remington 17(similiar to 223, I think) was way more fun to shoot. Reaching out 300 yards was no problem with the

I've seen a target at over 400 yards get hit a 1/4 inch or so off center target with a 17. That was a heavily modified gun though, on a range at a bench. They are fun little guns.

With a .17 hmr or a Remington 17? there is also a 17 fireball which is a little bit smaller of a shell.
I think my brothers Rem 17's bullets are 25 grain and around 4k fps compared to my 17 hmr with a 17 grain bullet traveling at i believe 2895

I was told it was an HMR, I could be mistaken.

Re: Prairie dog hunting in Ne
It could be I have never shot out that far with my hmr. Im sure if itwas dead calm out it could be done. A remington 17 could do that pretty easy if on a bench and really calm.
