I currently live in Texas and go to college down here. I'm considering moving up to either Aurora or Elgin Il, to go to school at NIU over in DeKalb.

Honestly I'm not worried about being 1000 miles away from home or any of that stuff...I'm actually most worried about my Ranger rusting. I was up in Huntley for a week two months ago and literally every vehicle was rusty as sh*t. There are several things I'm majorly OCD about and rust is one of them.

Do they have rust proofing places up there? Like places to spray salt resistant undercoating or something? There is nothing like that down here that I know of but I'm hoping I can have it done up there to save my chassis from rusting away

There are places that do it. Idk how effective they are.

That being said:

Fuck Illinois. If I wasn't bound by mine and the wife's family, I'd move out of this corrupt communist hellhole in a minute. If you're going to come anywhere near here, move to Wisconsin, Iowa, or Indiana and commute if you have to.

Yeah, I know. I'm 18 but I already have five firearms registered in my name down here. Talking to my girlfriends dad up there apparently I have to have a FOI(?) card to even be able to touch a gun up there. Seems jacked up but I don't want to be driving 2 hours from the WI border to go to college.

NIU is a good pick. It's a great school. But I have to say... Aurora is bland, and isn't that exciting, and Elgin is a ghetto. In that area if you want some good housing and places to do things in your free time. Schamburg/Hoffman Estates/Palatine are the cities to be in. Lots of exciting stuff to do there. The car enthusiast scene is great in the Chicago & surrounding area too. Although, the offroad trails are complete garbage.

But like bear_claw said. Our state and local governments are corrupt and broken. BUT our CCW bill just went into effect!!
