2004 4.0L - My serpentine belt was smoking for a very short duration and intermittently with a high pitched sound. When the sound disappeared the smoking went away too. It was around the alternator pulley so I presumed it was the alternator bearing freezing up. I since replaced the alternator after having it checked out and replaced the idler pulley as well as the tension assembly and belt. I still have the periodic screaming noise and the smell of the new belt. I tried putting everything electrically on trying to see if I could narrow the search but cannot find out why the intermittent screech and smell. Anyone have any ideas of where to begin?

I have installed OEM fog lights to my Ranger that did not originally come with fog lights. All went well with the installation of the lights themselves - existing wiring harness. I put in a relay in the large black fuse box under the hood. My last step - install the OEM fog light switch using the exisitng harness behind the radio bezel. With the headlight switch in any position - no result. The inside light of the OEM switch does variate with the dimmer control.

I could rewire the fog lights but am fighting that urge. I preformed an online search & it appears that the headlight switch w/fog lights is no different than one without. I also unsuccessfully searched for a bezel with the fog light switch provision. My radio bezel has two auxiliary power plugs but no fog light opening. It did have the wiring terminal clipped to the back of the bezel which is the one I used on for OEM switch.
