4.0 SOHC Teardown (Pre-build)
Detailed teardown and beginning of rebuilding a 2002 4.0 SOHC
Bearing cap looking good
Connecting rod journal looking pretty good. Checked all journals and found to be dead on spec.
Piston coming out, covered in a bit of oil varnish and carbon, but will clean up nicely
Connecting rod bearing looking decent
Carbon build up on one of the pistons.
Light rusting on cylinders, should come right off with some honing.
Main bearing cap showing a good condition bearing. Little bit of wear but could be reused. Definitely going to replace all bearings though because...

Pistons out. Checked the bores, all within spec on taper, diameter, and out-of-round. Tolerance of less than 1 thousandth of inch on all cylinders.

Valve faces look brand new after refacing on the grinder. Very smooth and consistent finish.
