I am retiring soon and am looking to buy a small pickup with better MPH that my 95 GMC, which is getting 13 Highway and just plain bad around town (sucks). I am thinking a 1998 to 2003, low mileage, Ford Ranger 4x4, 3.0 L, 5 Sp Manual (or maybe the 4 cyl. but I don't see many of those for sale.) Most of my driving is around town, the hilly back roads and some logging roads but also some highway. (No mud anymore. Or not much anyway.) I want better MPG. I'll keep my old truck for hauling. Over all what I read is about 90% positive and good MPG. Can I get some input about looking for a 3.0 L 4x4 used Ranger and maybe what to look out for? I know the basics, but not much about the Rangers. I've read some complaints about very poor mileage???
