Hi Tom, My name is Brett and I'm new here. I'm getting ready to change the timing chain on my 91 Ranger with a 3.0 in it. I believe from the way the engine sounds when it is turning over that its ether the chain or a blown head gasket not sure which so im starting with the chain. Any suggestions?

My Ford Ranger 2001 XLT 4.0 Sohc/auto off road package is having an issue and when I try to start the engine its as if theres is no battery in the truck but everything works. I put a new battery in and a new cable ends and it started. I drove the truck, shut it off, and the truck wouldn't start but as I wiggled the cables it started. I have done a full check on everything. I made sure everything was tight and I still have problems. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Hello fellow Ranger owners .I'm new here so please forgive my imperfections trying to communicate.I go by 007Rick.I have a 1997 Ford Ranger with the 2.3 fuel injected 8 plug engine. I'm actually a Chevy guy but liking Fords more and more as they have made ,in my mechanical opinion some of the best cars on the road in the last 5 years. Their cars speak for themselves.Great mileage , styles and performance too. THE PROBLEM I'm having is the '97 2.3 Ranger, although with 174,000 miles still runs like a sewing machine,It's dead when it comes to what I consider power even for a 4 banger.Does ANYONE have a Tried and proven power increase solution OTHER than tear down boosting compressio. It seems geared well enough. I'm an old school HotRodder but other than that which I've mentioned,Just not sure how to increase power just enough to keep up with traffic on the HILLS of the interstate.Any suggestions would be appreciated and considered. Thanks
