Yes, you do remove those covers at the back of the console to get the entire armrest out of the truck. I wish I could remember how the pin comes out where the unit swings up, but the loss of memory due to middle age prevents me from providing you this info. But the entire process of changing out the plastic for the metal is a real easy process. Any questions feel free to send me a PM. I just helped another member on here go thru the same process.
