I had Valvoline change the oil in my 2004 XLT last Friday. Saturday PM I noticed that the oil light was on. Drove 2 blocks to a SA and checked oil level. Nothing on dipstick. I added 3 qts to bring level to safe and drove home. Checked level next day-again, next to nothing. Drove to a local Firestone. Upon inspection, they told me the Valvoline oil filter
was not tightened properly, causing oil to spray out and around undercarriage. They provided new oil, filter and degreased underneath.
Now I'm dealing with Valvoline for compensation for extra expenses. My question is
" What about possible long-term effects of this on the engine" ? Firestone said as long as the check engine light did not appear, it's probably OK. How do I approach Valvoline about this issue?
