Eeek! That I am not sure of. You're talking about a major safety compenent. If it were me, I'd splice those wires back together (rather than just crimp on butt connectors I'd go with butt connectors that have solder in them, google or you-tube on that type of connector for use but they are really easy and a much better connection). As far as I know, for now your airbag light will always be on and it won't function, but I'm not positive on that. It should be real easy to fix though.
I commented for you on my pic of the interior carpet and wire, but thought I'd cc it to here as well: "That wire and connector is for the airbag sensor, it connects to its mate under the driver seat (mate is part of the seat). There is an identical 1 under the passenger seat if you have dual airbags, and they are very obvious when you unbolt the seat and tip it. As a side note, get the pre-molded carpet (save your pennies) because this project with a 6x6' piece from Home Depot was a real PITA (it took a long time and a lot of swearing, er effort). I am pleased with the result, but there are several areas I need to do some minor patching (got too aggressive with trimming) and cutting. Live and learn, then learn it again!"
