Re: Ranger54 bodylift installed
Install diagram it mounts to the frame and is adjustable up and down. If you have factory skid plate it will have to be removed

Thanks for that diagram. Been looking for some install instructions specific to rangers.

Re: Ranger54 bodylift installed
Gotta bother you one more time about this brush guard, STL. You said it's adjustable, but looking at the pic, I can't figure out where its adjustable at. Looks like the bottom curls under the bumper and mounts to the frame. So, if it were mounted 3in higher, new holes would have to be drilled on the mount for it to bolt to the frame. That's the way it looks to me. I even opened the pic in paintbrush and "lifted" it to get an idea.....Maybe I just need to wait til I get one and look at it to know how to do it, but I'd rather understand it before spending $400. Wish I knew somebody close by that has one on right now so I can look at it.

Re: Ranger54 bodylift installed
Well by adjustable You can loosen up the bolts that hold it to the part going to the frame and it will lower down. So if you had to remove headlights or something. But you can then have it up against the truck or out from the truck.

Re: Ranger54 bodylift installed
Thanks, STL. I see the enlongated holes where the bolts are on the lower part of the guard. I guess I'll just have to figure it out when I get all the parts in and start working on it.

Re: Ranger54 bodylift installed
Put the PA 3" BL on my truck yesterday. What a pain in the ass, first of all. Second, the bushings at the cab corners were just spinning, so my buddy grabbed the bushing underneath and held it tight while I twisted the bolt out from up top inside the truck. Now, the new bolts are in, but when trying to tighten them down nice and tight, the bushings still spun on both sides. I know I can just grab a hold of them while I crank them down, but I'm looking for a better way to do it than using the channel lock/vise-grip contraption we used to get the bolts out to begin with. I'm driving the truck with them as tight as I could get them, but I don't want to drive much until these bolts are torqued down. I can hear the cab flexing when going through turns or slowing down. I need to get these bolts nice and tight like they're supposed to be.
Those with experience putting on BL's (STL) can you help me out with a few words of advice? All the other bolts are fine. Just having trouble with the cab corners (bolts in the back of the cab under the jumpseats).

Re: Ranger54 bodylift installed
Very nice looking lift! I see it took you all three hours to put it on. Just wondering, how much experience with body lifts between the bunch of you? Before ordering one over here, want to make sure I don't bite off more than I can chew, just to realize that half way through the job. It does look really good though.

I'm assuming your military...Just rent a bay at the auto craft shop grab a few buddies and use their tools. Buy them beer and dinner at Winger's when you're done. It was easy for me, just VERY VERY time consuming. Me and a buddy with no BL experience put mine on. Even though we fought two bolts for a total of about 3 hrs and with a few trips to homedepot and advance auto for stuff, including a return trip to grab the install booklet I left at the counter at Home Depot, an hour of hard rain and three hours no power, we were able to get it done in 14 hours. I know that's WAAAAAY more than others have taken, but those bolts whooped us something aweful. The only problem we ran into besides the bolts were a few missing nuts and stuff. I still only have 2 bolts holding by front bumper brackets on...

Re: Ranger54 bodylift installed
I would suggest getting a pipe wrench big enough to wrap around there. That is what we did on mine. Will need 2 people

I will try the pipe wrench and let you know how it works...we tried that on one of the front bolts but the one we had was just a tad too small. I'll let you if it works out. Thanks, STL...pictures soon...
