Default Looking to drop my '91 ranger xlt

How is everyone doing?

I have a 1991 ford ranger xlt 2wd. I am 16 and got this car from my old man. Looking to drop as much as possible but still be at ride height. right now it has the stock 15 in rims on it but definetly looking to change those soon. I want the biggest drop I can get and the biggest rims possible for that drop. Also what would be the least exspensive way to drop it as much as possible? let me know what I would have to do to the truck to be able to fit such a drop i.e. c notch for extra clearance.

I'm good, thanks for asking.

Dream beams and shorter coils in the front with camber bushings. Flip kit with c-notch if you wanna go lower for the rear.

@padilla94 thanks much for the advice. will definetly be looking into that option more. if I did that what would be the biggest rims I would be able to fit. also would I have to get it re-aligned? if i went that low

Yes, you will have to get an alignment.

If I were you, it sounds like you want a drop that's low, but not too low that you have to be cautious around large bumps. I would go with either a 4/5 or 5/6. 5/6 looks better, but you can fit larger rims with a 4/5.

That being said, I would go no larger than an 18" rim because the tires needed to fit 20s on your truck will be expensive as fuck and provide a complete SHIT ride.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Well, the only "kit" so to speak, is the 3/4 kit and you make adjustments from there. That consists of 3" lowering i-beams, and a 4" lowering axle flip kit. From there, you'll need drop coils to add to the front for more drop, and lifting blocks to put between the leaf springs and axle to drop the rear more. Also, new shocks and u-bolts.

Brian has probably the best deals on new kits and has just about everything for lowering Rangers on his website.

If you need anything just shoot me an email to brian@illusivefabrications.com (I don't get on here to often) the DJM 3/4 (drop beams and rear flip kit) are the most common drop, if you ever might bag the truck you will need the drop beams.

You can also add a set of Belltech 2" drop coils on the front and then add a 2" lowering block (after the flip kit) or flip the rear hangers and shackles for 2" this will put the truck at a 5/6 drop which is pretty much the max the truck can be realigned at using NAPA part # 264-3950 +-4 degree adjustable camber/ caster eccentrics, set on an alignment rack.

Also when going that low I would recommend a raised transmission crossmember, radius arm relocators and, a bolt in 2.25" notch. You will probably want to look into some Drop shocks with any drop. I recommend the Doetsch Nitro Slammers for the best ride and Handling.
