1988 ford ranger lowering help?
I have a 1988 ranger 2wd 2.3l and I want to lower it about 2" maybe 3". Im not quite sure how to do it. A buddy of mine lowered my 2003 ford ranger 2 inches by taking out the factory blocks and torsion bars. This truck also has torsion bars but I don't know how to lower the back, any help? What parts do I need to buy? Thank you for any help

Re: 1988 ford ranger lowering help?
You don't need to buy anything, but if you want to go really low, you bought a sucky model to do so.
You just need to un-crank your torsion bars in the front and remove your blocks from the rear. Should be about 2"/2" drop. Anything lower than that requires some serious work and $$$.

Wow, fail@me. I must be tired.
You need lowering springs (2" is maximum drop achievable) and a hanger flip, or flip kit with lifting shackle.

Re: 1988 ford ranger lowering help?
yea only 98+ 4x4 and edge, some sports have torsion bars. You could do a max 5" drop with 3" drop Ibeams and 2" lowering coils. Although if you wanted to go that low I would suggest swapping to a 89-97 spindle due to the more adjustment availability in the alignment eccentrics. Shoot me an email if you need help with figuring out what parts you need to use. brian@illusivefabrications.com
