Default Are Special Shocks Needed?

I'm looking into lowering my '93 XLT, and was planning on dropping about 3 inches.

So my question is, am i going to need to get special shocks, or will
my KYB's work?

they'll work for a while, but you'll shorten the life of them.

have a similar question so i thought id revive this thread.

i just put some new monroe shocks on my truck. now i am looking into a 2/3 drop. what is the purpose of drop shocks(just lengthen life?)? would my current shocks work with a 2/3 drop?

----------

been doing some thinking, would just getting drop shocks in the front be fine?

Drop Ibeams do not change the position of the shocks. Drop shocks have different valving for better handling.

You will probably blow out the rear shocks eventually since rear drops do change the shock length. You would probably be ok for a while. If the ride is extremely soft you may want to get some Doetsch Nitro Slammers.

I would say the stock shocks would be fine for a little while, because i was running stock shocks on my truck but it rode horrible then i bought some Nitro Drop Shocks by Belltech for the rear, and im running stock shocks up front with a 5/6 drop..
