Default Lowered 99 ranger, Need to return to factory hight, how to?

I bought a 99 ford ranger from my buddy instead of letting him trade it in.

The owner before him had a shop lower it, and put fatter rims, and tires on it.

I want to return it to stock springs, and tire size, and add air shocks for hauling small loads.

easiest, cheapest way of doing this?

Is there a year frame of springs that can be used in a 99?

2WD, 4cyl, manual, 1999, dont know much more...

SIDE QUESTION: Will standard air shocks fit in a lowered ranger? As if I were to go to a parts store and order air shocks for a factory 99 ranger, WILL they go in it, without having to re-lift it?

Thank you.

Well you really need to determine how it was lowered I can't really tell from the pic. Look and see if the axle is on top of the leaf springs or under it. You should also take a look at the control arms and see if they are stock (formed) or lowering arms (welded tubes and plates). I also have a set of stock ranger coils from a 00 4 cylinder I can sell you if need be.

He does have the coil sprung suspension. My guess from the pic is 2/3. Now to figure out how the shop did it, the right way or the wrong way.

I too have a complete front suspension setup from my 98, but shipping would be a bitch.

As far as whether standard length air shocks will work, that depends on how low it is. at 2/3, you can get away with it, but any lower and you are likely to bottom out the shocks. My suggestion would be overload bags. The have more load carrying capacity and don't over stress the single sheer shock mounts. Also, it doesn't matter how low you are really. with a couple of spacer to adapt for spring under on my Ranger, I ran 1500lb overload bags dropped 4/5. I could load it up with no sag or ride problems.

How do I tell for sure if its to low or not? What do i take pics of, that would help you determine that?

Thanks! it would be nice to keep it lower, just cause its easier to load up with stuff, I just hate bottoming out all the time, when I load up a 4wheeler, or a load of garbage, dirt, so on...

Overload bags=no problem with weight in the back.

Measure the distance from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel arch on all 4 corners. From that we can tell you how much you are lowered. Also, look at your suspension. Do the leaf springs on the rear go under or above the rear axle? Are your front control arms stock or tubular? Have your front bump stops been trimmed? Answer these questions for us, and we'll have alot more to work with in giving you advice.
