Lowered or Stock? Help
Here's my truck from the side. The rear is leveled with 2" drop shackles, 235/75r15s all around. The front looks really low, and it's sitting on the bumpstops...could someone help and tell me if they think the front is lowered/coils are worn out? I just replaced the shocks so those are good. Would a 2/3 drop work if I also bought JDM tubular upper and lowering control arms, and will it still sit on the bump stops? Thanks.

Re: Lowered or Stock? Help
No, the rear is LEVELED with the front by 2" drop shackles, but imo the front seems a little lower than I've seen on other people's stock Rangers. I was asking if it was normal for 235/75r15s to fit like this, and if it's normal for the front suspension to be sitting on the bumpstops. Not low by any means, but future plans of lowering it.

Well no it should not be riding on the bump stops. and by the full pic, its not level. For correct height measurements. Measure from the center of the hub to the fender lip front and back.. NOT the ground to fender. the back still sits up higher. What did you do to the front end?
And if you want to get lower, a 75 series tire isnt gonna be it. If it were me building a street truck. fronts would be 245/45/17 and 315/40/17 rear [they fit and at 12.5" wide too] with the right wheels [Volk T37's] were my choice back in the day before I lifted it and decided to chase offroad and trail camping as a hobby and a 2WD to 4WD conversion to enjoy overlanding more so than making a canyon runner street truck.

Re: Lowered or Stock? Help
I have done nothing to the front except put in New shocks, rotors pads and calipers, other than that I've done nothing to them. It's not exactly level, but it's WAAAYY more level than when I bought it. It had a serious rake. And my thought is to go with slightly smaller tires and probably a 4/5, with forerunner fenders and bedsides for sort of a wide body look. Probably going to end up running 255s or 275s on a 9 or 10 wide. Idk, we'll see what the future holds. Plans change lol

Re: Lowered or Stock? Help
Okay, maybe not RIGHT on the bumpstops, but basically. Here's some pics, figured that'd probably help. The second one shows the not dusty part which I assume means it's constantly hitting them?

Re: Lowered or Stock? Help
Tough to say, could have cut springs/broken springs. Maybe it has some lowering spring on it.

Do you have contact with the previous owner? Maybe an inquiry as to what he did to it before you got to it would be in order? And if I recall, a 4-5 done right would possibly require a C-notch but I could be wrong but I think without it might ride like a buck board on a covered wagon.. I dunno if you hate your kidneys enough to want to enjoy that on a daily grind??
You could always pull the fenders too, especially the bed.

I'd find out what the previous owner did first if possible and then consider cutting those bump stops in half or application of some urethane universal ones from prothane or energy suspension.. then you might have some suspension travel back.

Noted thought.. I'd hope the OP would have noticed bent, cut, mooshed springs but.... again we return to asking the previous owner if possible for answers

Re: Lowered or Stock? Help
I bought it from a used car dealership, and I doubt they would even know who they got it from. If i remember correctly they bought it at auction with a title lien, and when I bought I basically just payed off the lien. They would have no idea who had it previously, and it doesn't say on the carfax I have either. And I've read a 4/5 doesn't require a c notch, but will probably do one just for good measure. Problem with the front is I can't find any replacement front coil springs, it's all universal coils or lift/lowering coils. I toyed with the idea of getting coils from a jy but I don't want the same issue I'm having now. I could probably get some from a 4.0 since it's a heavier engine and would be equipped with stiffer springs? Idk

Re: Lowered or Stock? Help
I did a notch on mine and glad i did. The axle was just way too close to the frame for me.

Re: Lowered or Stock? Help
Throw some low pro bumps up front. Definitely sits like it’s been lowered though.

Re: Lowered or Stock? Help
Those springs look like weathered versions of my new DJM lowering springs. Silver with black dots all over them.
