i didnt edit shit, the link you provided is the link to YOUR version of wiki, while the actual ford ranger link still states that they have the lowered springs, notice the difference in the URL

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Ra...2.80.931997.29

and here you are, believing edmunds, when it also says that my truck has a passenger airbag standard on all 96's when it CLEARLY does not.

It is all about spring rate. A lowering coil generally has a lowered spring rate than a factory coil. If you put a lower spring rate spring in place of a higher spring rated spring, then it will sit lower.

All after market springs are not designed like the factory springs. The aftermarket manufactures their springs in a single PPI spring rate. The factory Ranger springs have variable PPI spring rates for the engine and body combo that they are going in.

Like I have said before, the factory spring rates vary between which engine and which body style you have.

yes, but they all consistently drop the same amount, regardless of the spring rate, wich proves your point invalid again.

You obviously have not been around Rangers very long. The Ranger springs are known for sagging.

Wiki can be edited, why can't you understand that. I posted MORE than 1 site that showed they were the same height as the standard Rangers.

I'm curious why the guy that in his first post berated the op for asking a lowering question on a 4X4 site that he's on, now wants to argue with the lowered guys about whether they know their shit.

To the op, and to get this back on topic, take the splash springs, front and rear, the flip kit, the shackles and the beams. This should set you down about 4/5. Thats 4" in front, 5" in rear. You will need shorter shocks in the rear, but you can probably get away with stock length up front. For the back, I have heard that stock length shocks for a Nissan hardbody pick up are a good fit for a 4-7" rear drop. As far as how low you can go with those beams, you can lay frame if you want to bag it. The bigger concern in how low you can go, is tire and axle to frame clearance.

Thread cleaned up. Let's not turn what should be a civil debate into personal attacks. Stay on topic.

Lightbulb Re: Lowered ranger splash suspension on ranger xl

I work in the Parts Dept. of a Ford dealership, saw the OPsters question on TRS.

I looked up springs for a 93-97 Ranger, front & rear, and the beams...Ford cataloging doesn't list a SPLASH specific application, it shows as MJonesJr stated, spring rates only, and no difference in the beams.

Thats all I can tell ya bought this threads topic, if you don't wanta believe me, take your happy tail to your local Ford dealership and ask them for the price of SPLASH springs & beams.

GOOD LUCK OP!!!

I believe that the dealership doesn't list Splash springs, but if we went into every part for a discontinued model that the dealership doesn't have, we'd be here all day.
