Default axle not centered under bed?

I stepped back and looked my truck and found my passenger side wheel sticks out about 1/2in further from the fender than drivers.

And Running a DM flip in the rear,

Has anyone heard of this? I don't have any dog-tracking to my knowledge

It keeps the bearings in your driveline alive by preventing binding and allowing them to move freely. Old mopars offset the entire motor and trans, rangers just offset the axle.

I just laughed at myself over this. You got me wondering if mine wasn't like that. Yepper, it is! Never bothered anything like tire wear, handling, as far as I know, so never went looking for anything that might cause a problem, so never noticed even after 10 years of owning this one.
Just out of curiosity, what possessed you to find this?LOL
No, not making fun of you.

I would confirm squareness of your bed to the frame. May as well also check the cab. Do that then go from there.

The differential is offset on the axle...meaning there is a left axle shaft and a right axle shaft, both with differing lengths.

What? At least on the Ranger, the slight passenger side offset of the differential helps clear it and the driveshaft from the fuel tank when the suspension cycles.

i didnt notice any "un-squareness" in my bed, it looks like the bolts have never been out before.

and yes, i know the pig isnt centered in the rear axle, i just dont understand why im not centered under the bed. U-bolts maybe??

Yepper. I'm not worried about it though, haven't had any weird tire wear, dog tracking or anything. I just look at it like it's not perfect, it's just a machine, made by a machine. I'll betcha most of them are off by a little bit. Hey, at least all the body lines line up, unlike some other vehicles.

I've measured mine and it's dead on center now. I didn't measure it before I stripped the entire rear end of the truck bare for paint, during the resto though, so it's possible that it may have been off from the factory. It is also possible that your bed and cab are mounted slightly off center on the frame, instead of the axle being off center. You have to measure from the frame to know for sure.

If your body lines aren't lining up as well, then your frame is definitely tweaked, for whatever reason. My 96 is straight as an arrow, but has also never been wrecked. Mine also has a C-Notched rear frame as well, and still has a perfectly straight Bed/Cab Gap. That comes from a quality install though. I have seen many get hacked up, and during the process inevitability tweaked by people who didn't know what they where doing, and then that Bed/Cab gap ends up looking like an upside down V, lol.
