Default Max CV angle?

I'm going to do a coilover conversion on my stock height 01 4x4 Edge. I know the old "2 inches and you'll be okay" thing, but does anyone know of the max angle in degrees? Thanks

no one is gonna sit here and say OH YA Go 5", then you blow your axle... technically anything over stock you are stressing out the CV. unless you like dropping some cash if shit happens then keep it stock height

I saw on an expo forum that 22-24 degrees is about the max. I wondered if the rangers would be about the same. So I was considering running at 15 degrees, but wanted to see if that would work alright. 15 degrees just doesn't seem drastic enough to be destroying shit

Like mentioned, it is just way to hard to sit down and figure out the stresses and whats good and suddenly bad.

Sometimes parts last forever getting the shit beat out of them, sometimes they are babied and don't last no time. Hell my stock 4x4 hubs went at 40k with stock 235's n t bars all the way down the whole time, then I ran 50k on 33's with 15x8 wheels and cranked t bars and those damn things are still going fine.

Every vehicle and every different size wheel and tire combo is going to change wear characteristics as well as driving habits and just overall luck. IMO I usually only crank about half way or slightly over half which is around the degree you stated; but thats just me.

You will get people that will come in and say they've had there's maxed all the way out for 2 years and offroad and mud every week.

Crank em until you get a height that your happy with and angle that you think isn't that bad and run em til they break. Whether that be 50k or 200k, just my 2 cents!

^Thank you for an actual answer haha! I guess it'll just come down to either trying my luck at 15 degrees or waiting to drop the coin on a superlift

honestly the superlift just comes with drop down brackets and your t bars stay in the exact same location (if not going coilover). Yeah you may fit a bigger tire but you will still have the bad rake which is what most dont like usually.

I usually just measure the rear and front and see what the difference is. I know in my 06 with the bars all the way down, it was a few inches.

So I brought the bars up a little bit to where it was only an inch to two inches lower in the front as I like a little bit of rake on my trucks. I had my bars cranked up more at one point but I didn't like the look of my cv's so I just dropped it lower and lower until I found a happy medium between front end lift and cv angle.

Also just a tip from someone whose been there and done that; I would make sure you have atleast half a tank because with the driver and gas tank on the drivers side, it will cause it to weigh more and you to have to crank the drivers side a little bit more.

If you had the gas tank empty and than you were inside it driving, it would probably sit somewhat lower than the passengers side.

^Thanks for showing how that looks! That's probably what I should do for mine, so that there's less chance of me messing everything up. Btw, I really like your ranger. Went through your build thread a little while back, and it's pretty badass.
