Default Superlift - Coil-Over Conversion

Just looking for a little more information on this. i'm pretty sure you can get the conversion kit from someone at ORW. do you just get the brackets and stuff from that guy and buy your own coil-overs/shocks or do you get it all from him? also does FOX only make shocks or do they make a combo that has the coils with the shocks in them? if they do make the combo where do you get them? (if i'm confused on what a coil-over is and what the shocks do etc etc please clarify it for me, i dont think i quite understand it fully)

thanks for all the help

ORW is an official site vendor here and cuts some pretty decent deals...especially their group buy before they were a vendor. It was like $460 for a pair of custom valved Fox Emulsions and your choice of Eibach or Hypercoil coils in your choice of spring rating.

You don't have to do Fox, but they're better than the breaking prone Bilstein's.

Ok i will head over there and take a look. Fox is pretty much the best of the best right? What is a good coil? and if i remember correctly 750lb coils is ideal for the ranger right?

What bilstein 2.0 coilovers have broken? I've seen bilsteins, kings, foxes, sway aways, foa's, radflo's....I could keep going all break.

Comparing a fox and bilstein coilover side by side, the bilstein will probably perform better. Now, what anyone will be doing with this kit on their rangers will never be working the shocks to their true potential, so any upgraded shock will be just fine.

With that said, I myself like fox and will be running a 2.5" ressi shock up front (with the torsion bars) and I already have 2.0x10" ressi fox shocks in the back.

To the original poster: Go with the shocks that ORW has in this kit. They have already taken all of the guess work out of it and Fox makes a great shock.

It all depends on the driving you do.. What your plan is after the coil overs... I have 750lb hypercoils, and I love em. They're just right.

Comparing apples to oranges. Those look like 5100 coilovers which are much smaller than the 2.0 shocks. I'd also be willing to bet that the suspension was not cycled correctly and was bottoming out the shocks. The whole RCD kit in general is full of fail so I wouldnt be surprised about the bump stops not being in the right location.

I'm sorry I did not point out the series of bilstein. I honestly didn't even think about it. Just from seeing that one and a few others, I wouldn't be comfortable with a 5100 bilstein that wheels occasionally.

I do agree with the fail of RCD kits though. lol. Even though there's fixes....some are spendy fixes like replacement coil-overs.

**edit: pics posted don't even have bumpstops. lol

Yeah thats what i plan on doing. Can you tell me the difference between the Fox Emulsion shocks and the Remote Reservoir Shocks? its a $100 difference so it might be worth it. I went to Fox's website and read up on them but it kind of went over my head..

My driving is all road driving (i drive over curbs and crap all the time) and the occasional wheeling probably 4-5 times a month. When i wheel its never anything big because there aren't any challenging trails down here. Its mostly just big mud pits, so not that stressful on the suspension. Once i go to college i might get into some more challenging trail riding. With all of that in mind, do you think 750lb would be ideal?

Mud is stressful on the suspension but will not fade your shocks. The purpose of resis on the shocks is to increase the amount of shock oil in the shock which increases the cooling capabilities of the shocks. With the offroading I do out in the desert, the suspension is going from full bump to full droop over and over for long periods of time. When the shocks heat up they begin to fade and lose their effectiveness. With what you described, the regular shocks are going to be just fine.
