Default Body lift and wheel/tire advice needed

I have a 2001 Ranger XLT 4x4 Off-Road that came sitting close to the height of a stock F-150 (higher than the average Ranger). I want o put a 3" body lift on and would like some advice on what type of wheel/tire combo would suit it best. I would like to go with 18" wheels and 30" tires but am hesitant because I don't want it to become too top heavy and don't want to stress on flipping it real easy. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Also, I need an alignment and am curious if I need to wait till after I do the lift?

I got 16" rims and 31" tires have not noticed any thing diffrent

You wont need an alignment your just lifting the body. wont be touching any suspension parts

Excellent. I wasn't sure if I needed to go with some deep set wheels. How much of a gas mileage decrease should I expect. I have the 3.0 V6 and get between 15/17 (worst/best).

just my 2 cents, 30" tires on 18" wheels are gonna look funny to begin with, not to mention 30" tires with a 3" body lift will look funny too. you can fit 33s easily with a 3" body lift

I'll have to check on the ratio after work. Not sure where to find it without looking at the truck.

And 2 cents are always welcome. I've tried to find a site where I could view modifications and see what it would look like but can't find one to adjust lift, rim/tire size. So I have just been going off a rough idea for now. But plan on making the change in the next couple weeks.

The axle code says R7. I looked it up and this is the info I found for you:
R7
L/S 8.8"
2750 lbs capacity
4.10 ratio
