Default Unable to do lifts on the 2011 Ranger XLT?!

So I received some depressing news last week, I was told the onboard computer system in the 2011 Ranger XLT won't allow a lift to be put on the vehicle because it will throw off all the sensors and an override hasn't been figured out yet to bypass the computer....if that makes any sense, I'm probably not explaining it very well.

Anyone else heard of this?

It was a dude at a shop near my house that does lifts and tires. I know nothing about car computers, or lifts really, but it did make sense the way he explained it. Adding any height to the vehicle throws off the sensors so they have to be overridden to be told that the new stats are normal. Still not explaining it very well I know, sorry.

But maybe he's wrong, I don't know.

He may be referring to the newer roll stability sensor. That is just my guess really.

This is probably it. I mean, I could probably get it done but there would be sensors going off saying there were problems with the car due to the lift, which I don't really want happening.

I believe there are a couple members on here that have 2010 trucks lifted they are the same as 2011.

It is a truck not a car also

Are you wanting a body lift or suspension lift?

A friend at my school owns it, but im not sure if he purchased it lifted or had a shop do it however.

My guessing on this is that a suspension lift would cause problems with sensors more then a body lift would.

Not sure, I think just the overall height is what affects it. But not going with a body lift, if I can't do suspension I probably won't lift the thing at all.
