Installing spindles
Ive got my 3" lift spindles. anybody know how to take out the snouts from my stock spindles? can they be pulled?
also tie rod puller. do you have to have one to pull out the tie rod? because when i installed my shocks i was looking at the tie rod and i dont really see why youd need a tie rod puller.
Also does anybody know what size cotter pins id need?

1/8" cotter pins. length = ???? whatever fits with enough wrap. 1.5-2" maybe?
I never use any puller of any kind....I just carefully pound the threaded side of the TRE til it pops off the knuckle/spindle. Or I pound the arm just to the inside of the TRE on the TRE 'housing'. Don't listen when someone tells you to thread the nut on the TRE then beat that.....I've never done it on a ranger and NOT eff up the nut.
My understanding is that the snouts are permanent. But I could be wrong.
I thought you already got the job done? so why are you asking these questions? Or are you just driving around with a half assed job with no cotter pins??

by snout do you mean the part that you slide the bearings and calipers over??? Cause I believe those are cast into the spindle...

use a pickle fork, wedge it between the tie rod and the spindle, its also used for ball joints. hit that on the end with a hammer and it will pop right off. its cheap and has come in handy in my toolbox more than once a month.

So who ever told you that the snouts must be reused didn t know what they where talking about the snounts are pressed and rivited on when you got new spindles they should of already have the snouts on them as to removing the tierod a rubber mallet is always good or break out the air chisle !
