they dont make a cheap suspension lift for anything above a 97. torsian bars suck. you can get a 3 inch body lift for $150.

You can get the 3"bl and a 1-2" tosion crank and 1-2" blocks in the rear, that is the cheapest that I have found so far and I have 2000. I have been lookin for the past week and a half now. No need for the susp lift when on a budget.

First we need to know 2wd or 4wd? If 2wd, we need to know if you are coil sprung or torsion bar. The only suspension lift for that would give you those 6" or near that would be if you had a coil sprung 2wd and went with spindle, UCAs, coils and coil spacers. 2wd with torsion bar only have the option of spindle lift unless you want to use the RCD which is designed for 4wd but will work on 2wd with torsion bars (IIRC) but is costly as well as discontinued so hard to find. THe only other option is custom by doing a solid axle swap.

What does a pair of drop spindles run and what are the negatives as far as wear and tear of having the spindles?

no one makes drop spindles for a ranger of any year 2 or 4wd only lift. and his 98 ranger would have coils up front if a 2wd the edge have the torsion but not made in 98

I know the trailhead model had torsion bars and I thought the sport model from Gen IV had torsions...?

yeah, if you wanna get anywere with the IFS system ya really might as well just do a SAS cause the lifts are really expensive and it seems the good ones are tough to find anymore. just my .02 cents... even the TTB system isn't THAT great, has camber issues(just gotta figure out how to fix em haha)

IFS 4wd are expensive, but 2wd are not, 3" spindle is around $300.

If I lived in Cali or somewhere in the southwest I would go for a 2WD, but not up in MN or NY. Too much snow and too deep of mud.

I'm in Cali w/ 4wd. Use it when I go wheeling, also very helpful when I go snowboarding.
