Tough to answer without any info....

Can you make a signature with your trucks info? That would help. So would pics.
As far as tires go, what axle/gearing do you have?

Shackles broke, cab corners need done.....hmmm.....rust anyone? I'd worry about getting that thing safe before I worry about mods...

gear ratios?

that 4.0L OHV you've got has got plenty of power to turn tires. Depends on what your axles gear ratios are....

my truck is in really decent shape for the year the shackles are just rusted and the cab mounts everything else is safe the frame is not rusted thought and the body is in great shape except there is one rust hole by the tail pipe.

If the shackles went, replace those hangers too. Usually the rear cab mount brackets go as well. It's fairly common on trucks found in the rustbelt.

*edit....I re-read the first post.

Whats your current gear ratio? I assume it's probably something like 3.28's or even 3.07's....throw in 3.73 axles from a junkyard. It'll be a rocketship compared to what it is now.

Yes i have ordered the shackles, hangers and cab mounts they come tomorrow so i will have pics with it in progress and about my gears i currently have 3.07. doin the swap will that be a direct fit for the 3.73's or will it take some fabrication to install them. and also what truck will i be lookin to part out for these gears?? thanks for the help guys. so do u think i could go with the gear swap before i beef up the motor i wanna do both but i want the height now ha

OH YEAH...you'll want some gears. No fab work or anything....Just find junkyard axles with the ratio's you want. Best bet is an early gen Explorer. And doing that, you'll also be upgrading that front axle to a D35(if i recall correctly). If you want fab-work and an upgrade, get a 95+ explorer rear axle. It's stronger(31spline) compared to 28spline, it's got discs. Most are 3.73. Requires welding on shock tabs and welding on new spring perches.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper this way then getting gears installed for you or going new on gears...setup is spendy and takes some pretty expensive tools to do yourself.

When you 'build' the engine or whatever....don't really matter. You'll be VERY happy with your existing engine and these new axles. Imagine that aplified iwth a strong motor.

my parent have a friend that has a older exploder if he still has it idk what year but i wanna say 94 or 95 so just check the door tag to see the ratio right. If it has 3.73 in the rear will the front axle be the one i want?? and if it is i just drop my old front axle out and swap in the exploder one and weld on the shock tabs and spring perches.

Will this gear swap throw off my speedo alot?

There's fixes for the speedo. It's changing the speed sensor plastic gear in the transfer case. Really easy to remove. I'll get links in a minute.

Front axle ratio must match rear axle ratio....wait a sec.....I forget....you 4wd? lol. I assume so. lol. You'll want a 97 and older Ranger or 94 and older Explorer front axle. All explorer rear axles are the beefier 31spline 8.8, but 95+ have discs. So I'd find out what year that explorer is before you start parts pulling....94 explorer and 95 explorer front suspension and axles are TOTALLY different from one another.

I don't like to trust the door tags or axle tags....I like to confirm via counting the ring teeth and the pinion teeth, dividing the ring count by the pinion count.

Speedometer gears...

Yeah your speedo will be off...it's off already with 31's. Use the formulas in the link above to figure out which color gear teeth to order from the dealer.
