Default Suspension Lift VS Body Lift

i probably dont sound very smart but whats the true difference between a body and suspension lift? and which would be better on a offroad truck? i know body lift is much cheaper but idk what the real difference is

a suspension lift is more expensive because it replaces your stock suspension with different parts, that make the vehicles ground clearence higher. a body lift is cheaper cause its only blocks to lift the body away from the frame. the ground clearance doesnt change cause the frame hasnt moved. all a body lift does is allow for bigger tires, which gives you lift depending on the tire.

look in my sig, theres a link that shows my build thread. i have my body lift pics in there.

SEARCH! i know i've posted in a thread asking this question before.

but when it all boils down to it, suspension lift > body lift on a truck that actually gets used off road. the cost difference is worth it for the added performance.

just do a bodylift, you can fit bigger tires unless you can fork out the cash for a suspension lift, I know I dont have it, thats why Im body lifted

honestly the superlift suspension lift isnt going to add a lot of performance to your truck, unless your going to fork over the cash to do a long travel kit on your ride, i say body lift it, the front end even with the superlift kit is still going to be stiff, not to mention it just drops the whole front diff and eveything so there is virtually no advantage... not to mention the fact that the body loft will keep your center of gravity lower making your rig more stable.

ohhhhhhhh ben for teh lose. in that case go get an extended radius arm suspension and look at the twin traction beam tech section on the ranger station, there is some crazy travel you can get out of the front! forget body lifts.

exactly. As far as rangers are concerned I say f the suspension lifts.

1st off I really am the type of guy that hates people doing body lifts and they need to def do suspension lifts, but IMO its just not worth it on the ranger.

The only one your going to be able to get as far as new and right now is obviously the superlift. So your going to gain 4 inches, but it keeps your t bars in stock location, still has the big mounts and drop brackets hanging down up front. Your going to need a new front driveshaft, still only using bigger blocks in the rear much less if you want to to the better route and go with bigger rear leafs and keep the stock block which is even more money. But even if you dont your going to be in it easily for 2 grand. You could have a good amount of parts for an SAS with that kind of money.

Now I realize not everyone has the skills and time and that to do an SAS which is where the suspension lift fits them alot better. But like the reasons stated above, I just cant justify that big of a cost for something imo isn't that great. Plus almost all of these trucks are DD's or driven alot to where you dont just absolutely need a suspension lift over the body lift.

I agree the body lift can look worse but for the money vs what you gain, the BL is much better than the SL as far as whats available at this point and time. Just my 2 cents worth.
