Re: belltech shackle install
So did you get longer shocks?
Also have you tried putting the bolt in from the inside out? Does it still hit the hitch?

Longer shocks are needed when you need longer shocks. IF you go from completely stock to a shackle, then you are probably ok... but you lose however much lift you got in suspension droop. If you have lift blocks and add a leaf and shackles, you will probably need new shocks. On the other hand, if you lift it 4", you might not be able to go get shocks that are 4" longer because you may bottom them out when the suspension is compressed.

When I did my shackles I HAD to bring the bolt from the inside out.. othrwise it hits the hitch. Its close now, but won't touch.

Re: belltech shackle install
Ok ill have to try that and no I didnt buy longer shocks. but I wouldnt risk modding anything else like adding longer blocks or add a leaf without longer shocks. And thanks for the tip I will switch the bolt out and see if I get better clearance

Re: belltech shackle install
Umm....my 94 has the shackle bolt, bushings and all, siezed up inside the leaf spring. Not turning. Cut off the heads on both sides and the innerds still wont come out! Any suggestions on how to get that nasty Bass Tard out of there?

Re: belltech shackle install
sounds like you got a real bad situation. instead of flipping my bolts i just cut off the excess of the bolt. it doesnt really rub anymore.. and it works fine. its just that when you take corners and hit a nice bump the rear end tends to come loose a little

Re: belltech shackle install
Quick question, do i put the flat plate facing the rear like chris has done or towards the front? I have seen both ways, just would like to get a clear answer which way to place them.

Re: belltech shackle install
When raising it just two inches from shackles you don't need to get different shocks. I was wondering if they would work because I am going to weld some custom shackles probably a 3 inch lift

Re: belltech shackle install
i knoow with 2 inches of lift i didnt have to get longer shocks at all. i have no trouble but three inches is pushing it i would say. You could end up straining the shocks on rougher terrian
