I would think the only difference would be the bumper lift brackets. Others can chime in if there is anything else but that is most likely be the bulk of it.

Is there actually a difference in bumper mounts between 96 and 98? Reason I'm asking is there's a 3" BL for a 98-00 on local craigslist for $140 and I've been wanting a lift for awhile just haven't had the money until now

They do look different between 96 and 98. There is the option of buying the parts through pa accessories. It was $50 just for the front set shipped to my door. But honestly for a 96.. I would save up a little bit more money and do a suspension lift on it.

How much more work is a suspension lift though? I know nothing of suspension components other than what I already have lol

Go with 32s...maybe 33s if u want to do some trimming and may need to remove mudflaps and get aftermarket flares.

I have 33x12.5 and aftermarket flares...

On my 98 Ranger XLT 4x4 with a 3" BL, my auto trans shifter will not go into Park completely. The only two points the shifter cable is attached to, is on bracket on the side of the transmission, and the bracket up under the dash. I don't see it attached to anything on the firewall by the steering shaft, so how can I get some more slack in the shifter cable? Does anyone make a little bit longer cable that will work? The cable is fairly tight with very little wiggle in it at all.

Big possibility the bracket at the end of your shifter selector is loose. Look up in the foot well and you will see it. Two bolts. Very common problem it will keep you from going into park.

I will check that out first to see if that is the issue. Is there a picture of where the bracket is located, so I know what to be looking for?

Loose bracket was the issue, because I tightened them up (really loose) and I have Park and 1st gear now.....woot

Thanks.

On my 2011: No place to put the crush block ,every brace under the bed have a bolts(10) and sit on the 3'' blocks of the bodylift. No metal plate at all to remove in the inside of the frame rail(after losing 1 hours, i know its not there!). Brake line are very close of the driver front support. The handbrake cable relocator bracket dosen't fit, had to make some modification (and maybe work stock, without the bracket) and maybe some other details but all was ''easy fix'' nothing to panic there! Do-it before it rust!!!!
