Default I want to put a small lift.......how?

So I have an 2002 ranger supercab, 2WD (completely all stock) and I want to put a small lift on it. I don't know where to start......
I have a friend that has lifted his jeep and also my friends jeep too so he knows what he is doing and he said he can help me a while back but before I talk to him so me more, I want to know some general things so I don't sound like a complete idiot...

I do not want to spend a lot of $, change shocks or anything else- I just want an easy solution so I can have some bigger tires and just to make it look a little tougher.
I really have no clue where to start.......I have heard of spacers as but don't know what they really are...

What type of lift is cheapest, best for the $, easiest? ( I can spend a little bit of $, but not much)
How big can I go before replacing other parts(shocks, arms, ect.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated
THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!!!

You could probably fit 31s on it stock, but
a small 3 inch Body lift done with your buddies would be the cheapest route

Not sure if this changes anything, but I it leans. The front drivers side is lower then the rest of the truck. When I got an inspections at the beginning of the year the dealership said they can fix it for $100-I guess it needs a .25" spacer....

Ive seen guys just stack hockey pucks up on their body mounts, and buy some longer bolts. That would be extremely cheap, but kind of ghetto.

TJ, if it was a 2wd edge/sport/dual sport then it would have the torsion bars

You could do coil spring spacers too, might make the ride more ruff but probably easier to install then a whole body mount, potentially even cheaper. You can run 31s on completely stock suspension, I have for the better part of a year now. They rub you fender on big bumps though, but you can pull your front fenders out like I did and now I dont have that problem!! I also just got a lift though

the OP does not have torsion bars. His best bet is a 3 inch body lift. Safety always overides monetary.
