Default Improve 2005 4X4 ride off road

I have just recently cranked my torsion bars and put larger tires on my 2005 FX4. I was wanting to know if there are some tricks to getting a smoother ride off road without expensive, redesigned suspension components. Would better shocks make a big difference? I don't really do anything crazy but have accidentally gotten off the ground.

Your only option without going to big and crazy is just different shocks. Just the hassle of having torsion bars and our rangers never really ride that great anyways.

T bars being cranked will make your ride rough. but like zach said shocks will help.

What would be the best shocks to use? Would reservoir shocks be more effective?

go with blisteins. i mean it's either that or rancho's. those are mainly your choices. I recomend blisteins though.

Depends on how much you want to spend. No I would not go with the side reservior shocks, just a good quality replacement shock. You can go as cheap as some cheapy gas charged $15 ones all the way up to rancho 9000xl's for around $400 or bilsteins for $300+ just depends on what you wanna spend. No matter your choice your going to have some people that say they hated them, and some that love it.

For instance most love the bilsteins, but ill be honest im not impressed with mine for the money I paid. If I was going to buy some cheaper ones id prolly get the monroe sensatracs. Many hate them but the people that I know that have them are guys that opinions I trust and have had alot of different shocks like Toreador4x4 for instance and who is a ford tech. If I was going to spend big money again, id get the rancho 9000xl's instead of the bilsteins but im sure you are not going to spend $350 for them, but hell I paid $315 for my bilsteins so that little extra money wouldn't bother me if I had it to do again and could change them to the settings I like.

You should look for a shock that is for a "lifted" truck they have them from 0"-1" of lift up to 3"-4" of lift. Some are available in 1"-2" lift.

^ what he said, i've got rancho's on mine and they do ok for my bars being cranked.

doesn't really matter what you do, if the torsion bars are cranked its going to ride like hell.
