Just out of curiosity... is it possible that the rear of this truck already has some sort of lift? It just looks like it's higher in the back than it is in the front. Is that normal or has there been some raising of the back end on this thing?

That's called factory Rake. Its to compensate for when you haul things. That is why I wont crank my T-Bars. I haul a boat alot and nothing looks stupider than when the front end is up in the air

98% of all trucks have the froont end lower because the back is more heavy duty
so urs is normal and does not have a lift....its actually a little low for a 4x4

That would be cool! So question (and the reason I started the thread) when I went to look at lifts there were a whole lot of other things listed that I would need or options that I could add to the package...THAT'S what I don't know about. Do I just type in 199 Ford Ranger 4wd/4dr body lift and it will pick the right one for me?

WOW! Now I know what men feel like when "size" is talked about. I feel so inadequate with my abnormally LOW 4x4!! I have to take care of this soon or I'll start getting a complex!

Sorry, not trying to. All I know is when I looked for a kit last night they had a whole bunch of numbers and crap and then an "add options" section and I lost it! I will check out the "how to" thread today!

So this one will work without the need for all the "suggested parts" or "performance enhancing options" that are listed to the right?

----------

Well, from your link...for about $30.00 more I can get the performance accessories lift. So what's the difference?

yes the only reason why they suggest the other items to you kiindy is the fact that the wanna get more money form you the kit is all that you need unless you want to hide where the frame and body are apart under the wheel wells... however if you are gonna put bigger tires on spike then i wouldn't go with the hide a gap option because the tires will cover the gap.... you'll just have to deal with a lil bit of dirt coming thru the gap... all the hid a gap's are is basically mud flaps for the inner fender wells to cover the gap that you create when putting the body lift on...

Thanks Marty! (and everyone else). Yeah, they could probably sell me swamp land in Florida if I thought it was something I needed for my truck. I really need to start learning this stuff!
