Default Question about body lift?

What exactly needs to be done to have the hitch not hanging down all retarded and such? Does it need to be cut and welded? Is that the only thing the kits dont come with to combat? I should be able to have my bumpers/foglights and everything else look right correct? Is the hitch the only welding i will have to do? My hitch is the only tow points i have left because i f'ed the tow hooks and attachment points on the frame in an accident! I dont want to compromise that! I just dont want to go from oh wow a kind of fixed up sort of looks worse then better stock truck to one of those oh look that ******* body lifted his truck cause he couldnt afford suspension and now it looks retarded.

Its a 2001 Edge 4x4 4.0 SOHC

Cut off the mounting points overlap the mounts to the hitch then bolt and weld it back.

Or you can cut out about 2" or 2.5" then weld it back with some flat bar on each side.

----------

I hauled 2800 pounds with it like that.

Other method

Thanks for the reply! Didnt think of bolting it, id be a lot more confident in that along with my weld. I have a nice MIG welder i just dont weld a lot and stuff so Im kind of scared. It wont be for a while that i lift buuuuut i think ill be ok cause ive welded some sturdy stuff before. Its just not necessarily pretty. Those welds look GREAT if you did em good job haha

I hauled my trailer (5x10 utility) with it just bolted not welded.

It was not my first time, but had been a while since I did any welding.

It is welded on both sides of mine.

I am not positive who's that is in the 2nd picture I posted.
