Default New Ranger... Lift and Tire Questions..

Hey everybody,

I am new here. Just bought a 2001 RANGER EXT CAB XLT 4X4 OFF-ROAD. I have been looking around at options for my new to me Ranger. I have looked through the forum and other websites and have got lots of info, but it seemed easier to ask you all what to do with it.

I live in Phoenix and will be driving over rocky, dry terrain. Also, going to Sedona in the summers, Mix Terrain. Occasional trips to Glamis Dunes as well. I want the most flex and travel possible with the lowest cost right now. Later I will spend more on stuff.

I am looking to raise it slightly (2-4) as cheaply as possible with still being able off road. I was thinking T-Bar crank, and Add-a-Leaf, explorer leafs, or sport trac leafs?

Also, with doing this I would like to put black wheels and larger tires on. I want the stance to be wide as well. I was thinking 16x8 inch rim with low (2.5) backspacing or a 16x10 inch rim with 4 backspacing.

With that being said what do yall suggest? What size tires could I go with? Where is a good spot to get good A/T tires and/or wheels at reasonable cost?

Thank you all so much!

*has the 4.0L Automatic if that matters at all.

You could skip the add a leaf and get a set of expo leafs and just stack them with the stockers. Would run a 16x8 due to availability or honestly a 15x8 would make tires much cheaper. For good all terrains the most aggressive I have seen that I like would be some mickey thompson atz or the coopers in my sig. For road wear the mickeys are better.
