Default Sagging A** 2wd work truck, need advice.

I Have a 2010 w/ a lot of weight in the back for work. My question is what is the best method to raise the rear and save some sort of ride quality.

Ive been quoted 300 for repacked and arched leafs in the rear for 3" gain.Im hesitent to use airbags because I dont feel they are a good long term answer. I dont feel the overload bolt-ons would be a good idea because they would always be in play and it wouldint lift it (duh)

Would some combo of shackels/repacked leafs/and lift blocks keep the ride quality with the lift im looking for.

I plan on getting some 30's in the future.

by the way of your truck looks it looks like it don't have t-bars but coils up front. In that case you could get a coil spacer. then for the rear you could add a leaf or get a set of new shackles. but for ride comfortability i would say new shackles

I think you should look into air shocks. You can run the line to the bumper to air it up/down for convience. I would also consider adding leafs or buying the FULL length add-a-leafs. Pro-comp is a good place to get them. I don't think they have them for rangers(maybe). But ones for the jeeps are the same. On my lifted truck I installed them. My springs literally were flat with no weight, with weight they arched UP! The full length AAL brought back all the curve and then some. The short little AAL are junk, don't waste your time with them.

Try the add a leaf, i dont know how much weight you have, but it helped for me, my truck sits level with weight in it compared to before, thats will 500lbs of people and brick

But also, look at the air shock, for our fire department, the chief truck, (2000 expedition) used the aiirshocks, it used to sag like no tomorrow, having well over 1400lbs in it, it still sags a little but its very good still, rides nice still as well

Your the second person to recomend something like this and I think its an option for ocasional loads not for constant load. I may put some in once I get the height I want.

Im a bit leary of air shocks/bags. Something about images of fixing them with a tire patch or something go threw my head. lol

i would go with the shackle swap, you can get a couple inches out of it, but if you carry alot of weight i would add an overload spring

on another note, nice to see another member from stockton on here, i used to live there

My problem with the overload spring is that it would allways be in use...am I right?

Congrats on getting out of Stockton BTW.

lift shackle will lift it up, but not reduce the weight on the springs. I think you need something that will lift it up and also increase payload. You wouldn't want to "half ass it" and break a leaf spring!

I have ran air shocks before, they work very well. I actually used some for a camaro on the front of my jeep to lift it, they would hold 250lbs of pressure and extended like 7" or so

overload springs are not the way to go, your springs will still be maxed out. And adding more than one overload will make it stiff as a good shit from eating to much fiber! I had 3 on my truck once, rode like a tank

A local spring shop quoted me 300 to add two leafs to each side and arching them. Would I be better off just doin the one extra leaf , getting my added height with the shackels and eventually adding some air shocks to soften the ride? Also what are the stock length of the shocks and what kind of height can youe get without replacing them?

It looks like about $100 on ebay for rough country. If your handy with a wrench I would buy those and do it yourself. with the extra coin, buy your air shocks. They are super easy to put in. You'll need 2 c-clamps to clamp the springs, cut the center bolt, drop it out, loosen the clamps until you can slip it in. Put back together. This can all be done under the truck with the tires off, no need to take springs out.

These same springs took my 3 pack leafs from about a 2" bend from center to about 8" of bend.

I may just go that rout. I guess I kept thinking of the pain it was to swap the leaf on my Cherokee but doing it with them in place would be cake. Those are the right length? I read some place that the newer rangers had longer leaf springs.

Also you know of any good write ups on air shocks?

Ride quality goes out the window on a ranger if it has tbars and leafs...

Quality air bags (air lift/Firestone) NOT AIR SHOCKS! with onboard compressor, this way you only use bags when loaded and have regular ride when deflated. Tractor-trailors been using them for years.
