Exclamation Replacing 3rd member

Need help with removing the old third member. I have everything torn down shafts pulled etc. and I cant get the old 3rd member out! Seems there's a bolt on the driver side of the third member. Whats the easiest way to get that 3rd member out? Do I have to take out the radius arm or is there an easier way. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Pry bar right behind the gear and it should come out that how I had to do all mine after so long the bearings seems to swell into the case.

I was removing the WHOLE third member from the front axle, not the carrier/gears from the member....but thanks, I'll hold on to that info if I ever have to swap gears.

Yea they gave me some good info. I'll post pics as soon as its finished. Coming along pretty well though. It all started out as replacing a wheel bearing and I thought to myself...."when in Rome" so it got torn apart. The third member is cracked in half so it was a pain in the ass to pull the shafts

I think it would make a good how to, seeing as you have had problems Im sure some else will down the line. Like what the said on TRS about notching for that one bolt( what did you end up doing) How hard it was, what you learned, ways you would do it diff the next time around.

X2 on a How To

they do and they were off of there...BUT I was trying to press them out (a BIG no no)...way you do it I guess is hammer the shaft BY the Ujoint and they come right out (That worked really well, had them out in 2 min)...guess you learn something new every day
