Ok so I have been thinking about this idea today... If you put aftermarket keys in and then only take them to prekey maxed height it should ride as if they aren't maxed and ride softer and not have wear problems right?

Default Re: Lift Options for Your Ranger

I have a 1994 Ford Ranger 2 Wheel Drive 4.0L 6 Cylinder Automatic and I am looking to lift it as soon as possible. I'm posting a picture to show exactly what it looks like. I am wondering what kind of lift everyone recommends. I am new to this forum and look forward to all the help I can get. I want no less than a 3" lift. I really want a 4" lift to be honest. What tire size do you guys recommend? Please let me know any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

but then you wouldnt get any lift out of them it would remain the stock height?

Not if I took them to pre key maxed height since I have 07+ keys but I would think it wouldn't ride like it's maxed out

I want to be the height of anythingcanhappen with 32s cuz he has his stock keys maxed and lift shackles to level it out

'98-'06 max height would probably be the 'stock' setting on most aftermarket lift keys since both provide about 3" of lift (+/-).

As far as 'ride quality' goes - you will feel it no matter what.

No way around it on a torsion bar based vehicle - cranking torsion bars (or using aftermarket keys) will make it ride stiffer & cause additional wear. How much - depends on how much!

More you 'lift' the more you suffer! haha

Haha - No problem!

Guys have been fighting ideas on 4wd torsion bar Rangers since they came out in 1998 - just no easy way to get 'lift' out of them!

Like I've said before - best day ever was when I threw the bars in the trash!

Where is everyone sitting on cranked tars from the bottom of the fender to the ground? I ordered my helper springs the other day and I'm assuming my shell has caused sag in my back and these will help to alleviate that, so I will be cranking the bars to level it out before I head to VA.

Oooookkkkkk kinda stuck here. All you people that dont live in Hawaii and want a lift on your truck. COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!

The shipping to get spindles out here is ridiculous. Had planned to go with the Doetsche ones because the Fabtechs were so expensive and Im not racing through baja anytime soon. So find out the shipping for the Doetsche ones is 140.00! Might as well order the Fabtechs from 4WheelParts but crap....

So now Im at ebay buying the WheelsnParts spindles I know other users run. Question is: can I get the 4" spindles for the 2" AAL I have already? I see 4" spindle/2" shackles kits all the time, so it should be okay?

I just want my lift! Ive had all the other parts for almost 2 months just need these spindles.

Ok back again. Searched the threads but didnt find any exact answers. Spindles got here today!

Got a buddy walking us through the lift and new shocks since we are newbs to auto repair/mods. What else do I need for my lift and shock upgrade?

Ive got the 4" spindles
2" AAL
Leveling kit
Shocks for rear and front

Other than the leveling kit I dont have any extra parts. Is this gonna be a simple swap out or are we looking at any mods of any sort??

Just to prep so we dont get the truck gutted and get stuck.
