Default Next mod, need your help FRF

So i said i'd wait before i spent one dime, with all the shit i got with ford dealerships, my truck, and whatnot.

But the ride is just too damn low, and my tires are just too damn tiny.

So here i am, i want to lift it. I was told that a suspension lift is about the same price or slightly more expensive than a body lift. After an extensive search, i finally found a dealership liscenced to modify trucks, and was offered to change the keys, add blocks in the back and a leaf, then custom make a u-bolt.

I've read a lot of the subject, everyone has an opinion, so i bring this to you FRF: I don't want to change my original keys, 2" is more than enough to level the truck safely with the genuine parts that ford installed. Knowing that, exactly which parts do i need to buy to modify the suspension knowing i will very rarely use the truck to offroad, and never rough?

I read about spacers in the front, and add a leafs in the back, but not blocks and leafs at the same time. Do i need a shifter extension for 3" suspension lift? I was told this procedure would void the warranty on the suspension, are there recurring instances of broken parts on the ranger for a minor lift?

I would also welcome suggestions for companies who make those parts, so i can ask the guy to order the parts for me through his contact.

Whew, sorry for the wall of text!

I'm not sure what all you have done to your truck if anything, but about the keys you could put some pre 08 keys and blocks and have close to a 2" lift, I'm sure you know that though, just thinking out loud here

Only changed the tires, nothing has been done on the suspension yet.

The keys i already have let me lift to 3" max if i remember correctly. But 2" should be a nice safe level.

If i only add to the back, i'll still have the problem i have now; crap stays in the bedliner. Plus i don't really like the look of an uneven truck.

Yeah, i knew about it, but thank you for your input

No problem man, just hope you figure out what you want to do and it goes for the best.

I would not do the extra leaf for the rear, I did that with new leaf packs and you hit a few bumps you'll be pissin blood later! I think you can get shackles that will raise the rearend up and try some spacers for the front

You can do the pre-08 key mod for an extra 2", cheap and could do yourself.
For the rear I would get beltech-6400 shackle. Will lift 1.5''-2" but not stiffen the ride as said above.

Spacers for the front? Not sure what is meant by that as you said you have t-bars so spacers will not work.

With a 3" suspension lift, I am assuming you mean a 3" lift spindle. That will not require any shifter extension, but I beleive a 3" body lift would require the shifter extension.

I've read some more on the shackles with the info Justin posted, so could two pairs of shackles could give me a 2" rise (instead of one pair for 1~1.5")? At least that's what a few owners claimed.

When you mention extra 2", is it on top of the 3" (maximum) the original part would give me stock? I had read on this forum when i first joined, about abusing from torsion bars would dramatically reduce their lifespan, that's why i wanted to keep the original part and stay in a safe zone (2").

The spacers were suggested by the dealership, i think he meant those:

I'm clueless, but learning!

Try the 1.5, normally with less weight in the back it is already higher, then try the spacers in the front to level it

The shackles come with 2 levels of lift on them. You can only use one on each leaf pack. You are just swapping out your current shackle for a larger shackle. You can see the shackle at the far end of the leaf pack right behind your bumper going up to a moutning point on the frame.

the pre-08 when not cranked will sit as high as your cranked keys are now, so you could get 2" more on top of what you have now roughly.

Those only work on coil sprung rangers, since you have torsion bars, you will not have coils.

So there can only be one shackle installed per side, can i choose between 2 and 3 inches models, or are they pretty much one size standard? Is beltech the only reliable company, or do you guys know of others?

About the keys, should i order pre-08s from ford or go with aftermarket ones? If so, any companies to suggest?

Good to know about the spacers. I'm glad i asked here, the parts bill has severely diminished since i first spoke to the dealership.

Here is a pic of the shackle:

here is the beltech v. OEM:

As you can see there are 2 holes on the beltech for 2 different lift options. beltech is what i used and what most i know have used. you may be able to find some others as well.

For the keys, I would get some OEM models. Hit up a local junkyard and get them on the cheap.

Is that a lot?

Compared to a body lift kit, and what i was given as a submission for parts needed at first, by buying those i save big. I'm not too keen on used parts on a new vehicle because of the sum of bad weather and almost inexistant road maintenance here.

Another reason i'm not going to bother with junkyards is i was looking for a part a few weeks ago; out of some 12 junkyards only 2 had one or two rangers on the lot, but there was little left of them.
